What positions have you held at Troika?

I came to Troika in early 2003 as an Assistant in the IT Division. The interesting thing is that I had no previous experience in IT or the educational sphere (my background is in linguistics and translation). But I had the desire to work hard and learn new things.

The exciting thing about working in the IT is that all of the company departments are your internal clients. This means that you have the chance to quickly learn who is working with what. Pretty soon I started doing installation work with the Bloomberg and Reuters information systems, which gave me exposure to the stock market and to the employees who work in securities trading. In order to increase my knowledge in this area, I took the base-level FSFR exam, and I received my 1.0 certificate.

Immediately afterward, I was offered a job as an Administrator in Capital Markets, or the "Desk," as it is usually called. After three months of work at the desk I completed my first deal. Soon afterwards I was offered a job with the company's growing team in New York. Of course, the company rarely brings employees to New York from its Moscow office; this was actually the first time. In a certain sense I was lucky, and I agreed right away.

What do you consider your main achievement at Troika?

I can't pick out one particular major achievement. I would just say that I have worked on several meaningful projects and some of my ideas have taken effect in particular areas. Whenever I was involved in a project, I always loved optimizing things and making things go automatically. Whenever I had to do something by hand over and over, I tried to minimize it, lowering the amount of time and resources required. I dealt with these kinds of projects both in IT and at the desk, and I consider them my achievements.
