Why not just deposit the money in a bank? First off, money which "does not work" not only earns you zero income – it will also succumb to inflation. Given the current inflation levels, savings that are not invested will lose 50% of their value in five years. True, bank deposits are rather popular with private investors. However, only a few banks can offer interest yields which exceed inflation levels.

According to the Russian Federal State Statistics Service, inflation over the last five years has averaged 11.4%. The weighted average yield for bank deposits over the same period is only 8.8% 1. True, some lesser-known, smaller banks offer long-term deposits at 10–12% or more, but this usually involves greater risks.

Troika Dialog believes that one of the best ways to increase wealth is through either mutual fund investments or the direct purchase of Russian stocks or bonds.
