Panel discussion: Russia: Bulls and Bears

After taking a record 8 percent hit to its economy in 2009, Russia is on the road to recovery, helped by rising commodity prices. In April, Russia lured investors back with a $5.5 billion bond issue, the second biggest emerging market dollar debt offering on record and its first international borrowing since the country defaulted in 1998. Even after Russian stocks surged 127 percent in 2009, shares are still trading at a discount to other emerging markets. Can Russia shed its reputation as a risky place to invest given the perceived lawlessness that pervades the economy? Will investors who got burned in 1998 and 2008 come back for more?

Participating in the panel discussion “Russia: Bulls and Bears” will be portfolio managers and investment executives from major international firms. Representing Troika Dialog at the conference will be Chris Osborne, CEO of Troika Dialog U.S.A., who will participate in the panel discussion.
